I was very fortunate this year to be part of two Christmas parties this year, one in Seoul with friends that I made my first year, as well as some new ones
and those friends that I have made in Daegu this past year. I have to tell you that as most holidays in Korea, I feared for the worst that I would be stranded, lonesome as I am sure is a fear in most expat’s hearts but at the last minute as always my holiday was saved by good friends!
My first year in Korea, I was very lucky to be part of a big academy so we all spent Christmas together and was relatively easy to orchestrate but now that I am the only foreigner in my academy, I feel I have spread myself over a few groups this time around and not sure where my place would end up being. Anyway you get the point. I spend the weekend before Christmas in Seoul, see pictures #1 and 2. The first picture is with one of my first friends in Korea on the right and a newer but great friend in the middle. The second needs no introduction, we were overjoyed when Santa came down to see us, as I know he is very busy. I have to say maybe our brains have addled being older but our wishes for Christmas were quite redundant but Santa didn’t seem to mind!
Moving on! On Christmas Eve proper , my friends in Daegu had a Christmas eve sleepover party, filled with various activities such as white elephant (a game of mystery and stealing involving presents, to keep things interesting of course! Each person must pick an unnamed gift and then decide whether they want to keep it or trade it in for another unnamed one, then you are stuck with that 2nd present if you so choose another unnamed present, everyone does this and throughout the game you are allowed to steal someone else’s when it is your turn, see my face with the pillow? That gift did not last long
) There was also Christmas movies to be watched, a yule log playing on the computer screen, cupcake decorating. It was pretty great.

I like the artistic cupcake
and WHO pray tell is that Santa? lol
Haha thanks. My friend, at the Christmas party I went to in Seoul, disappears for a few minutes next thing we know Santa appeared! Everyone took a turn sitting and telling our hopes for presents. Have to say though we were all not too original
. I guess we are getting too old!
